Angine de Poitrine

Angine de Poitrine is a duo from Quebec who play guitar/bass (using a double-neck instrument) and drums. The group became famous after their performance in December, 2025, at Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, was recorded by KEXP and distributed on YouTube. At the time of writing, the video has more than nine million views.

The guitar and bass have been modified to add extra frets, enabling twenty-four tones in an octave instead of the Western music standard of twelve tones. The guitarist makes good use of these microtones to create unusual tunes that are still appealing to the ear. The guitarist also makes use of a looping pedal. The guitarist and drummer are perfectly synchronized in their playing, and both are excellent musicians.

Angine de Poitrine has released two albums, Vol. 1 and Vol. II, and the band has its own YouTube channel. I like the band’s music, which in my opinion is most enjoyable in performance.
