Running Summary April 2026

My running was so-so this April, but I bought new shoes!

My running was so-so in April, with lower frequency and less mileage than I had hoped for.

I am experiencing occasional moderate ligament pain in my left knee, causing me to reduce my running to three days a week for a little more than ten miles per week on average. For my long runs on April 12 and April 19, I used the Galloway run/walk method of running five minutes and walking one minute. I am optimistic that I can use the run/walk method to increase my long runs to half-marathon distance this spring and summer.

I bought two new pairs of running shoes in the middle of the month. I am now rotating Saucony Kinvara Pros (old), Asics Gel-Cumulus 27s (new), and Saucony Kinvara 16s (new). I buy running shoes from Marathon Sports when I can because they have good local stores and sponsor many local races. But Marathon Sports doesn’t carry the Saucony Kinvaras, so I ordered those shoes directly from Saucony.

I am slowly approaching my goal of averaging ten miles per week. I did not run any races this month.

These are my miles since the beginning of the 2026:
